The new Meat Inspection Regulation O. Reg. 31/05 under the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001 will modernize the regulatory framework that governs the province's meat inspection program. This new regulation will replace the existing Meat Inspection Regulation O. Reg. 632/92 under the Meat Inspection Act 1990.
The purpose of this Act is to provide for the organization and delivery of public health programs and services, the prevention of the spread of disease and the promotion and protection of the health of the people of Ontario. This regulation (O. Reg. 562) pertains to food premises. No person shall operate or maintain a food premise to which this Regulation applies except in accordance with this Regulation.
