'One Window' Coordination Process
Mineral development projects which will be subject to several pieces of legislation and regulations, or to one or more environmental assessments, will benefit from the 'One Window' Coordination Process (OWP). Under OWP, MNDM will co-ordinate other provincial regulators and, possibly federal regulators, to assist the proponent to bring their project into production. Project Definition Template (Word format)
Many of the delays which occur in the mineral development permits and approval process result from proponents not being able to be clear enough about their project plans. Clarity of information requirements/presentation and early engagement involving the project proponents and the MNDM Mineral Development staff could greatly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the regulatory process and reduce problems/delays.
The Project Definition Template addresses this problem. It is a clear outline of what information proponents should collect at the early stage of project planning in order to maximize the amount of advice that regulators can provide them. This will result in speedier and more effective delivery of regulatory advice and, thus, of permits and approvals.
Proponents are advised to complete this template upon commencement of a mineral development project and to discuss them as they do so with Ministry’s Mineral Development Officers.

A Practitioner’s Guide (PDF format)
A Practitioner’s Guide is an easy-to-use reference for adequately planning and implementing a mineral development project through all stages of the mineral development process in Ontario- a “Reader’s Digest” overview of the process, as it were.
