Search a business name

Find out if a business name has been registered with the Ontario government within the past five years by using the Enhanced Business Name Search, available through the Integrated Business Services Application.

Searches can be done on exact business names, words in a business name or the Ontario Business Identification Number. Search results will only include unincorporated business names.

How much does it cost for an Enhanced Business Name Search?

A fee applies for each name searched. Four types of reports are available depending on your needs and the results of your search:

• Detailed Business Names Report                    $8
• Statement of No Match Found                     $8
• Certified Detailed Business Names Report       $16
• Certificate of Non-Registration                     $26

How do I pay?

By credit card: VISA, MasterCard or American Express. Payments are required for each business name searched.

When can I search a business name?

The Enhanced Business Name Search (online search results and reports provided) is available Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM.

Searches cannot be performed outside of this time period or on statutory holidays, including Easter Monday, Simcoe Day and Remembrance Day.
