Service Guarantee
We will send you an electronic copy of your Master Business Licence via email when you successfully register a new business name and provide us with your email address. ServiceOntario guarantees to send this to you within two (2) business days or your business name registration fee will be refunded upon your request. Terms and conditions apply
Terms and Conditions
- The Service Guarantee applies only to applications for new business name registrations completed using the Integrated Business Services Application (IBSA) on the ServiceOntario website. You must access this application online.
- You must provide a valid email address in order to receive the electronic Master Business Licence (eMBL) via email and be eligible for the Service Guarantee.
- The application must be complete and accurate and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements. If you request a change to your business name registration after you have completed the Integrated Business Services Application, the Service Guarantee will not apply.
- If ServiceOntario is required to contact you for clarification or for additional information required to complete the processing of your business name registration the Service Guarantee will not apply.
- Business name registrations completed online can be paid by credit card only. Alternate payment methods are available at ServiceOntario centre locations.
- Registrations completed on a Saturday, Sunday, statutory holiday, or after 8 pm are deemed received on the next business day.
- Business Days means Monday to Friday and excludes Statutory Holidays, Civic Holiday, Easter Monday and Remembrance Day.
- The Ontario Ministry of Government Services reserves the right to cancel a business name registration if it does not comply with statutory and regulatory requirements. In such instances, the Service Guarantee will not apply.
- If ServiceOntario sent the electronic Master Business Licence by email to the email address provided on the application within two days of receiving the application, the Service Guarantee does not apply if the applicant does not receive the electronic Master Business licence by email due to external service interruptions.
- A request for a refund must be made no earlier than three (3) business days and no later than 30 calendar days after the date listed on your business name registration receipt, received upon completion of your registration.
- The Service Guarantee refund request form must be complete and accurate.
- Credit card refunds will be issued to the credit card used in the online application. For all other payment types, refunds will be issued by cheque.
- If payment for the business name registration is not received due to Non Sufficient Funds (NSF) the Service Guarantee will not apply.
- The name you applied to register must appear to comply with the Business Names Act and the regulations. Regardless of whether a refund is issued, the Registrar under the Business Names Act reserves the right to review and cancel a business name registration at any time for non-compliance with the Act.
- User must comply with minimum Integrated Business Services Application technical requirements
Exceptions
The Service Guarantee does not apply in circumstances beyond the control of the Government of Ontario, including:
- Lack of power supply
- Major failure in a technological system
- Labour disruption
- Natural disaster
- Any other factor beyond the reasonable control of the Ministry of Government Services
