Evacuation of Kashechewan First Nation

The evacuation of the Kashechewan First Nation resumed today because of anticipated flooding on the Albany River.
Approximately 630 community members have now been transported out of the First Nations by aircraft. Planning is underway to move a further 550 residents to Cornwall tomorrow.
The Provincial Emergency Operations Centre is working closely with First Nations, provincial ministries, federal departments, host communities and non-governmental organizations to coordinate the evacuation.
