Changes to Moose Hunting in Ontario

To respond to concerns about the moose population, Ontario is reducing moose tags for resident hunters by 15 per cent across the province and shortening the hunting season for moose calves in northern Ontario. The following information is taken from the 2015 Ontario Hunting Regulations Summary:

The complete 2015 Hunting Regulations Summary is expected to be available the week of April 20. Applications to the moose draw will be accepted from April 21 to June 1, 2015.

Second Game Seals for Black Bear

Second game seals for use during the 2015 Black Bear Management Pilot Program go on sale at participating ServiceOntario centres on April 15.  Second game seals are available for Wildlife Management Units 13 and 14.

Application Periods for 2015 Big Game Draws

  • Antlerless Deer – March 1 to June 30
  • Moose – April 21 to June 1
  • Elk – May 1 to June 10
  • Controlled Deer – August 1 to  August 31

Sunday gun hunting in southern Ontario

Sunday gun hunting during open seasons is permitted in the southern Ontario municipalities listed below from April 1, 2015 to August 31, 2015.
One municipality was added to this list on April 1 : Township of Chatsworth in Grey County.
No municipalities have been removed from the list.
