Amending O. Reg. 509/18

(ENERGY AND WATER EFFICIENCY - APPLIANCES AND PRODUCTS)

1. Section 1 of Schedule 1 to Ontario Regulation 509/18 is amended by adding the following paragraph:

40.  Commercial prerinse spray valve:

i.  Date of manufacture: July 1, 2021 or later.

ii.  Testing standard: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart O, §431.264 Uniform test method to measure flow rate and spray force of commercial prerinse spray valves, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iii.  Scope of application: a “commercial prerinse spray valve” as defined in U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart O, §431.262 Definitions, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iv.  Prescribed efficiency standard or requirement: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart O, §431.266 Energy conservation standards and their effective dates, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

2. Section 1 of Schedule 3 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

36.  Furnace, oil-fired, with an input of more than 65.92 kW (225,000 Btu/h):

i.  Date of manufacture: January 10, 2025 or later.

ii.  Testing standard: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart D, §431.76 Uniform test method for the measurement of energy efficiency of commercial warm air furnaces, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iii.  Scope of application: an oil-fired “commercial warm air furnace”, as described in U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart D, §431.72 Definitions concerning commercial warm air furnaces, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iv.  Prescribed efficiency standard or requirement: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart D, §431.77 Energy conservation standards and their effective dates, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

3. Section 1 of Schedule 4 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

30.  Portable air conditioner:

i.  Date of manufacture: January 10, 2025 or later.

ii.  Testing standard: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 430, Subpart B, §430.23 (dd) Portable air conditioners, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iii.  Scope of application: a “portable air conditioner”, as described in U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 430, Subpart A, §430.2 Definitions, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iv.  Prescribed efficiency standard or requirement: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 430, Subpart C, §430.32 (cc) Portable air conditioners, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

4. (1) Subparagraph 7 i of section 1 of Schedule 6 to the Regulation is amended by striking out “2020” and substituting “2022”.

(2) Subparagraph 8 i of section 1 of Schedule 6 to the Regulation is amended by striking out “2021” and substituting “2023”.

(3) Section 1 of Schedule 6 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

14.  Air compressor:

i.  Date of manufacture: January 10, 2025 or later.

ii.  Testing standard: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart T, §431.344 Test procedure for measuring and determining energy efficiency of compressors, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iii.  Scope of application: a “compressor” as defined in U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart T, §431.342 Definitions, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured, and as limited in U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart T, §431.345 Energy conservation standards and effective dates, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iv.  Prescribed efficiency standard or requirement: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 431, Subpart T, §431.345 Energy conservation standards and effective dates, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

5. (1) Subparagraph 2 iii of section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

iii.  Scope of application: the same scope as CSA C828-19, but excluding thermostats exclusively used for radiant heating systems.

(2) Sub-subparagraph 2 iv B of section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation is amended by adding “and” at the end.

(3) Sub-subparagraphs 2 iv C and D of section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation are revoked and the following substituted:

C.  maximum thermostat differential: 0.5°C.

(4) Sub-subparagraph 4 i B of section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation is amended by striking out “or later” and substituting “to January 29, 2021”.

(5) Sub-subparagraph 4 i C of section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation is amended by striking out “or later” and substituting “to January 29, 2021”.

(6) Sub-subparagraph 4 i D of section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation is amended by striking out “or later” and substituting “to January 29, 2021”.

(7) Section 1 of Schedule 7 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

10.  Uninterruptible power supply:

i.  Date of manufacture: January 10, 2025 or later.

ii.  Testing standard: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 430, Subpart B, §430.23 (aa) Battery Chargers, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iii.  Scope of application: An uninterruptible power supply as defined in U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 430, Subpart B, Appendix Y, §2.27 Uninterruptible power supply, as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

iv.  Prescribed efficiency standard or requirement: U.S. DOE 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 430, Subpart C, §430.32 (z)(3), as it read on the date the particular appliance or product is manufactured.

6. This Regulation comes into force on the day it is filed.
