Summary of cases in licensed child care settings
This report provides a summary of covid 19 activity in:
- licensed child care centres
- home child care agencies
Cumulative totals represent cases reported to the Ministry of Education since June 12, 2020, including resolved cases.
There are over 5,500 licensed child care centres and over 130 licensed home child care agencies in Ontario and most of these programs are open.
Cases reported on this page on Tuesdays represent the total number of cases reported Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon. Licensed child care centres and home care agencies report to us every weekday from Monday to Friday.

Where the numbers come from
Case data
Every day, child care centres and licensed home child care agencies report to the Ministry of Education on children, students and staff that have positive cases of covid 19.
If there is a discrepancy between numbers reported here and those reported publicly by a Public Health Unit, please consider the number reported by the Public Health Unit to be the most up-to-date.
Child care centres and homes
Licensed child care centres and home child care agencies report when a centre or home is closed to the Ministry of Education, using the Child Care Licensing System. Data is taken from the system at 12:00 pm the previous day.
