EXEMPTIONS

Exemption re schools, churches, etc.
1. (1) The Act does not apply with respect to the sale or the facilitation of the sale of a ticket to an event to be held at,
(a) a school, college, university or other post-secondary institution;
(b) a church or other place of worship; or
(c) a building that is owned or operated by a municipality, school board or community organization.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to a venue referred to in that subsection if, at the time of the sale or the facilitation of the sale of the ticket, the venue has been or is expected to be leased to or licensed by a person or organization, other than a municipality, school board or community organization, for the purpose of holding the event.
Exemption re films
2. (1) The Act does not apply with respect to the sale or the facilitation of the sale of a ticket to an event, the primary purpose of which is the exhibition of a film. O. Reg. 413/21, s. 1.
(2) In this section,
“film” has the same meaning as in section 2 of the Film Content Information Act, 2020. O. Reg. 413/21, s. 1.

Exemption re FIFA World Cup 2026
3. (1) The following ticket businesses are exempt from subsection 7 (2) of the Act in respect of the sale or the facilitation of the sale of a ticket to a match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, also known as FIFA World Cup 26:
1. Fédération Internationale de Football Association.
2. FWC2026 Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V.
3. FIFA2026 US, Inc.
4. On Location Events, LLC.
5. On Location WC LLC.
6. On Location WC S. de R.L. de C.V.
7. On Location WC Canada Limited. O. Reg. 132/25, s. 1.
(2) If a ticket business specified in subsection (1) makes a ticket available for sale or facilitates the sale of a ticket, as a condition for the exemption from subsection 7 (2) of the Act, the ticket business shall ensure that,
(a) the offer indicates in a clear, prominent and comprehensible manner the currency that is used for any amounts listed; and
(b) the ticket purchaser is charged in the currency indicated in the offer. O. Reg. 132/25, s. 1.
(3) The following ticket businesses are exempt from section 10 of the Act in respect of the sale or the facilitation of the sale of a ticket to a match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, also known as FIFA World Cup 26:
1. Fédération Internationale de Football Association.
2. FWC2026 Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V.
3. FIFA2026 US, Inc.
4. On Location Events, LLC.
5. On Location WC LLC.
