The Government of Ontario is organizing a webinar to discuss Africa’s journey to sustainable energy development.

With the fastest-growing population in the world, sub-Saharan Africa is expected to double in size to two billion people by 2050. Nearly half of the population still lacks access to stable electricity sources. Despite contributing less than four percent of global carbon emissions, Africa aims to shift from a traditional energy mix heavily reliant on wood, charcoal, and fossil fuels to more sustainable alternatives. Renewable energy projects are expected to see large gains in Africa over the next three decades, with solar and wind leading. Multilateral, bilateral and national organizations are making significant investments in these initiatives.
