We are delighted to invite you to an in-person business networking event for Ontario companies to meet with and discuss supply and partnership opportunities with a delegation of 15 to 20 Korean deep-tech startup companies in fields such as AI, Energy Storage Systems, and Smart City Solutions. We will provide company profiles after your registration of interest. The in-person event will be held on October 10, 2025 (Friday) from 09:30AM to 15:30PM EST (Toronto time) at the Ontario Investment & Trade Center, and it is Free of Charge. 

Description: You are invited to the business networking event (limited seats available), hosted by The Way Company and KOVA (Korea Venture Business Association). This event aims to provide opportunities to Ontario companies to meet and connect with Korean companies and industry professionals.

Market Background: South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea, is the 12th largest global economy with a GDP of US$1.59 trillion, a population of 51.7 million, and a GDP per capita of US$30,644. It thrives in sectors like electronics, telecommunications, automotive production, chemicals, shipbuilding, and steelmaking, driven by major conglomerates such as Samsung, Hyundai, LG, SK, Lotte, POSCO, Hanwha, Hanjin, GS, and CJ, which account for 80% of the country's economy. The Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) grants Canadian exporters preferential, tariff-free access to this significant market. South Korea is a key trade partner for Ontario and an increasing source of foreign direct investment (FDI). Recent major investments include a $5 billion EV battery manufacturing plant by LG Energy Solution and Stellantis, a new EV battery cathode materials production facility by Honda Motor Co. and POSCO Future M., and an e-compressor production plant in Woodbridge, Ontario, by Hanon Systems. In 2022, trade between Ontario and South Korea reached nearly $10 billion. South Korea ranked as Ontario’s #14 export and #6 import partner. Ontario's exports to South Korea, totaling C$923 million, include copper ores, soya beans, and optical instruments, while imports, valued at C$9 billion, consist of automotive, immunological products, and tractors. South Korean FDI in Ontario was valued at C$222 million in 2021, encompassing projects in the ICT and automotive sectors.
