The Government of Ontario is organizing a Cleantech Export Business Mission to the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ontario mission participants will share space with other Canadian companies in the Canada pavilion at AEF, an annual event for major stakeholders in the continent’s energy sector. This year will mark the 27th edition of the forum, which attracts high-level representation within African governments, in addition to utilities, regulators, development banks, commercial banks, power developers, technology providers, and engineering and construction firms. In 2024, the Barcelona installment featured 2,102 attendees, including 1,067 C-suite executives and 35 government ministers/officials/regulators. The trade show itself features more than 150 exhibitors. The 2023 version held in Kenya saw 2,391 attendees, including 932 C-suite executives and 167 ministers and government officials.
Nearly half of sub-Saharan Africa still lacks access to stable electricity sources. Renewable energy projects are expected to see large gains in Africa over the next three decades as the region shifts from traditional energy sources. The mission will appeal to Ontario companies with a background in transmission and distribution equipment, smart grid systems, consultancy services, energy efficiency and demand-side management technologies, process automation and systems control equipment, off-grid solutions, and fuel-cell technologies, among other key solutions.
The mission package will include:
The mission registration fee is to be confirmed. In addition, participating Ontario companies must cover the cost of their flights, accommodation, some local transportation and meals.
Mission application deadline: April 20, 2025
