Join this webinar to learn about the Government of Ontario's Life Sciences Mission to BIO Japan (October 8-10, 2025) in Yokohama, Japan this year.
BIO Japan 2025 is a major global biotech conference taking place October 8–10, 2025, at Pacifico Yokohama. BIO Japan is recognized as a vital platform for connecting global biotech players—from startups and academic researchers to pharmaceutical giants and government agencies. Launched in 1986, it is the world’s longest-running biotech-focused gathering and has become a cornerstone for innovation, collaboration, and commercialization in life sciences.
Japan has the 3rd largest economy in the world, with the highest spending on R&D as a percentage of GDP (3.59% in 2020) among G7 countries. Japan is Canada’s 4th largest trading partner (2nd largest in Asia after China). Japan is the 2nd largest consumer market in the world with 4 of 5 top quality life cities in Asia. With a population of 125 million people (2021), 29.1% of Japan's population is above 65 years old (as of 2022). Birth rates remain at an all time low despite government incentives. The population of Japan is forecast to decline by 12 million between 2022-2040. Its aging society and lack of available workforce make rural supports a major issue and opportunity. More than 60% of currently inhabited areas will lose more than 50% of their population.
The webinar, delivered in English, aims to provide key information to Ontario companies and start-ups about the life sciences mission to BIO Japan 2025.
Note: a separate Webinar about Medical Japan will be provided separately in early July.
A speaker from BIO Japan will provide information about the show and the associated programs.
Date of Webinar: June 26, 2025, 7:00PM-7:30PM EST Toronto Time
