Silicon Valley is home to the largest US concentration of venture capital firms as well as technology operations of many US and international automotive industry corporations including global OEMs such as General Motors, Ford, Tesla, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Nio, Lucid, Rivian, Nissan, Scout Motors and Hyundai; and new hybrid technology/automotive companies such as Lyft, Uber, Waymo, Apple. Many Tier 1 suppliers such as Bosch, Valeo, Denso, Goodyear, and Nvidia are also actively launching new innovations out of Silicon Valley.

Established in 2012, the Autotech Council is a membership-based community of auto makers, T1 vendors, and mobility investors, who are committed to partnership as part of their corporate innovation strategy. Members meet monthly to discover, evaluate, and support curated startups in the mobility ecosystem. This community has bridged the gap between innovators, which are often hard to find, and the traditional supply chain, which historically changed slowly. Since 2012, membership has grown to include many different parts of the mobility ecosystem - from semiconductors, AI, materials, and interiors, to insurance, energy, lighting, sensor, mapping and data companies.
