SMALL CLAIMS COURT JURISDICTION
Note: On the day subsection 20 (15) of Schedule 2 to the Good Government Act, 2009 comes into force, the title is amended by adding “AND APPEAL LIMIT” at the end. See: O. Reg. 244/10, ss. 1, 3.

Jurisdiction
1. (1) The maximum amount of a claim in the Small Claims Court is $25,000. O. Reg. 626/00, s. 1 (1); O. Reg. 439/08, s. 1 (1).
(2) The maximum amount of a claim over which a deputy judge may preside is $25,000. O. Reg. 626/00, s. 1 (2); O. Reg. 439/08, s. 1 (2).

Appeal limit
2. A final order of the Small Claims Court may be appealed to the Divisional Court if the order is for,
(a) the payment of money in excess of $2,500, excluding costs; or
