ONTARIO REGULATION 626/00

SMALL CLAIMS COURT JURISDICTION AND APPEAL LIMIT

Jurisdiction

1. (1) The maximum amount of a claim in the Small Claims Court is $25,000. O. Reg. 626/00, s. 1 (1); O. Reg. 439/08, s. 1 (1).

(2) The maximum amount of a claim over which a deputy judge may preside is $25,000. O. Reg. 626/00, s. 1 (2); O. Reg. 439/08, s. 1 (2).

Appeal limit

2. A final order of the Small Claims Court may be appealed to the Divisional Court if the order is for,

(a) the payment of money in excess of $2,500, excluding costs; or

(b) the recovery of possession of personal property exceeding $2,500 in value. O. Reg. 244/10, s. 2.
