DESIGNATION OF DISEASES

Note: THIS REGULATION IS NOT YET IN FORCE. It comes into force on May 1, 2018, the day subsections 2 (5) and 14 (4) of Schedule 3 to the Strengthening Quality and Accountability for Patients Act, 2017 come into force.

Designated diseases
1. For the purposes of the Act, a disease set out in Column 1 of the Table is designated as a disease of public health significance and,
(a) a communicable disease, if it is identified as such in Column 2 of the Table; and
(b) a virulent disease, if it is identified as such in Column 3 of the Table.
Diseases against which immunizing agents are used
2. The following diseases are specified as diseases for the purposes of the definition of “immunizing agent” in subsection 38 (1) of the Act:
1. Diphtheria.
2. Haemophilus influenzae b.
3. Hepatitis A.
4. Hepatitis B.
5. Herpes Zoster.
6. Human Papillomavirus.
7. Influenza.
8. Japanese encephalitis.
9. Measles.
10. Meningococcal.
11. Mumps.
12. Pertussis.
13. Pneumococcal.
14. Poliomyelitis.
15. Rabies.
16. Rotavirus.
17. Rubella.
18. Smallpox.
19. Tetanus.
20. Travellers’ diarrhea.
21. Tuberculosis.
22. Typhoid Fever.
23. Varicella.
24. Yellow Fever.
3. Omitted (revokes other Regulations).
4. Omitted (provides for coming into force of provisions of this Regulation).
