EXEMPTIONS

Note: THIS REGULATION IS NOT YET IN FORCE. It comes into force on July 1, 2018, the day clause 36 (c) of Schedule 3 to the Strengthening Protection for Ontario Consumers Act, 2017 comes into force.

Exemption re schools, churches, etc.

1. (1) The Act does not apply with respect to the sale or the facilitation of the sale of a ticket to an event to be held at,

(a) a school, college, university or other post-secondary institution;

(b) a church or other place of worship; or

(c) a building that is owned or operated by a municipality, school board or community organization.

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to a venue referred to in that subsection if, at the time of the sale or the facilitation of the sale of the ticket, the venue has been or is expected to be leased to or licensed by a person or organization, other than a municipality, school board or community organization, for the purpose of holding the event.

Exemption re film exhibitors

2. The Act does not apply with respect to the sale or the facilitation of the sale of a ticket to a film exhibited or offered for exhibit by the holder of a Class A Exhibitor licence, Class B Exhibitor licence or Class C Exhibitor licence issued under the Film Classification Act, 2005, at the premises specified in the licence or in respect of which the licence applies.
