Number of boards
1. (1) An O.P.P. detachment board is established for each of the O.P.P. detachments listed in Column 1 of Table 1.
(2) An O.P.P. detachment board for an O.P.P. detachment listed in Column 1 of Table 1 has the composition listed in Column 2 of Table 1.
(3) Multiple O.P.P. detachment boards are established for each of the O.P.P. detachments listed on Column 1 of Table 2, with a separate board established for each of the geographic areas listed in Column 2 of Table 2 for the detachment.
(4) An O.P.P. detachment board for a geographic area listed in Column 2 of Table 2 has the composition listed in Column 3 of Table 2.
(5) Each O.P.P. detachment board for a geographic area listed in Column 2 of Table 2 shall perform their duties and exercise their powers in relation to the policing provided in, or in relation to, the geographic area by the O.P.P. detachment listed in Column 1 of Table 2.
Exemption
2. The following detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police are exempt from the requirement in subsection 67 (1) of the Act to have an O.P.P. detachment board:
1. The Aurora O.P.P. Detachment.
2. The Caledon O.P.P. Detachment.
O.P.P. detachment board estimates
3. (1) An O.P.P. detachment board shall annually prepare estimates setting out the total amount that is required to pay the expenses of the board’s operation, other than the remuneration of board members.
(2) Each municipality in the area for which the O.P.P. detachment board has responsibility shall pay to the O.P.P. detachment board an equal share of the amount set out in the board’s estimates.
(3) Despite subsection (2), the municipalities that are required to pay a share of the board’s estimates may unanimously agree to allocate the costs among themselves on a basis other than equal shares and, for as long as they remain in unanimous agreement, the costs shall be shared in the manner agreed to by the municipalities.
Definition of municipality for remaining provisions
4. Despite subsection 2 (3) of the Act, the term “municipality” includes any municipality within the meaning of the Municipal Act, 2001 for the purposes of sections 5 to 8 and Tables 1 and 2 of this Regulation.
Appointment
5. (1) A person who is described in this Regulation as being appointed by a municipality shall be appointed by the council of the municipality.
(2) A person who is described in this Regulation as being appointed by a First Nation shall be appointed by the band council of the First Nation.
Term of office
6. (1) The term of office for a member of an O.P.P. detachment board appointed by a single municipality or a single First Nation shall be set out by the municipality or First Nation in the member’s appointment, but shall not exceed the term of office of the council of the municipality or band council that appointed the member.
(2) The term of office for a member of an O.P.P. detachment board appointed jointly by several municipalities or First Nations shall be set out by the municipalities or First Nations in each of the instruments appointing the member, but shall not exceed a term of four years.
(3) A member of an O.P.P. detachment board appointed, whether individually or jointly, by a municipality or First Nation shall sit until the earlier of,
(a) six months after the expiry of their term of office; or
(b) the day the member’s successor is appointed by the municipality or First Nation.
(4) The term of office for a member of an O.P.P. detachment board that is appointed by the Minister shall be set out by the Minister in the member’s appointment.
(5) If the position of a member of an O.P.P. detachment board who is appointed by a municipality or First Nation becomes vacant, the Minister shall notify the council of the municipality or band council.
Remuneration of members appointed by Minister
7. (1) The amount of remuneration to be paid to a member of an O.P.P. detachment board appointed by the Minister shall be determined by the unanimous agreement of the municipalities that are identified in Table 1 or Table 2, as applicable, as participating in the appointment of the members of the O.P.P. detachment board.
(2) If the municipalities are unable to reach a unanimous agreement for the purposes of subsection (1), then the Minister shall determine the remuneration to be paid to the board members.
(3) Each municipality identified in Table 1 or 2, as applicable, as participating in the appointment of the members of the O.P.P. detachment board shall pay an equal share of the remuneration of the members of the O.P.P. detachment board that are appointed by the Minister, in accordance with subsections (5) and (6).
(4) Despite subsection (3), the municipalities that are required to pay a share of the remuneration of a member appointed by the Minister may unanimously agree to allocate the costs among themselves on a basis other than equal shares and, for as long as they remain in unanimous agreement, the costs shall be shared in the manner agreed to by the municipalities.
(5) Each O.P.P. detachment board shall, periodically throughout each year, provide each municipality that is required to pay a share of the remuneration of members of the board that are appointed by the Minister with a statement identifying the amount that the municipality owes towards the remuneration of the members appointed by the Minister up to that time.
(6) A municipality that receives a statement under subsection (5) shall pay the amount set out in the statement to the O.P.P. detachment board within 30 days after receiving the statement, and the board shall remunerate the member from the amounts received from the municipalities.

8. The maps referred to in Column 2 of Table 2 are available for public inspection at the Office of the Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Division, 9th floor, 25 Grosvenor St., Toronto, Ontario, M7A 2G6.
