Amending O. Reg. 176/10
(TEACHERS’ QUALIFICATIONS)
1. (1) Ontario Regulation 176/10 is amended by adding the following section:
Persons impacted by emergency declaration
37.1 An applicant under subsection 4 (1) is deemed to have completed a program described in clause (a) of the definition of “program of professional education” in subsection 1 (1) if the applicant provides evidence satisfactory to the Registrar that,
(a) on or after March 17, 2020, they were enrolled in a program described in clause (a) of the definition of “program of professional education” in subsection 1 (1) that has four academic semesters;
(b) they were unable to successfully complete the practicum of the program referred to in clause (a) solely as a result of the emergency declared pursuant to Order in Council 518/2020 (Ontario Regulation 50/20) on March 17, 2020 pursuant to section 7.0.1 of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, but did successfully complete a portion of it; and
(c) they otherwise successfully completed all other requirements of the program referred to in clause (a) on or before the later of,
(i) December 31, 2020, and
(ii) the day after the Order referred to in clause (b) is terminated or disallowed.
(2) Section 37.1 of the Regulation, as made by subsection (1), is revoked.
Commencement
2. (1) Subject to subsection (2), this Regulation comes into force on the day it is filed.
(2) Subsection 1 (2) comes into force on December 31, 2023.
