Amending Reg. 55 of R.R.O. 1990

(WEIGHING OF CARCASSES)

1. (1) The definition of “beef carcass” in section 1 of Regulation 55 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 is revoked and the following substituted:

“beef carcass” has the same meaning as in the document entitled “Beef, Bison and Veal Carcass Grade Requirements” prepared by the Canadian Beef Grading Agency and published on its website, as that document exists from time to time;

(2) The definitions of “graded” and “grader” in section 1 of the Regulation are revoked and the following substituted:

“graded” means graded under the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001, the Safe Food for Canadians Act (Canada) or the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (Canada);

“grader” means a person appointed under the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001 for the purpose of grading beef carcasses and veal carcasses or designated under subsection 13 (3) of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Act for the purposes of grading beef carcasses and veal carcasses under the Safe Food for Canadians Act (Canada) or the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (Canada);

(3) The definition of “veal carcass” in section 1 of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

“veal carcass” has the same meaning as in the document entitled “Beef, Bison and Veal Carcass Grade Requirements” prepared by the Canadian Beef Grading Agency and published on its website, as that document exists from time to time.

2. Clause 5 (1) (b) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “the Canada Agricultural Products Act” and substituting “Division 6 of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (Canada)”.

Commencement

3. This Regulation comes into force on the later of January 1, 2021 and the day it is filed.
