Amending O. Reg. 223/05

(Fees)

1. Ontario Regulation 223/05 is amended by adding the following section:

Fees re: provisional authorization to slaughter

3.1 (1) The fee payable by the operator of a slaughter plant specified in a provisional authorization issued under the meat regulation to slaughter one or more food animals outside of a slaughter plant is $25.

(2) The fee payable by the operator of a slaughter plant specified in a provisional authorization issued under the meat regulation to slaughter one or more food animals outside of a slaughter plant is $48 per hour on a day other than a holiday and $65 per hour on a holiday for every hour that an inspector who is not a veterinary inspector,

(a) travels to the location of slaughter specified in the provisional authorization;

(b) attends at that location to perform an ante mortem inspection of the animals, supervise slaughter and perform other duties related to the provisional authorization; and

(c) travels from that location to the operator’s plant for the purpose of conducting a post mortem inspection of the carcasses of the animals.

(3) The fee payable by the operator of a slaughter plant specified in a provisional authorization issued under the meat regulation to slaughter one or more food animals outside of a slaughter plant is $80 per hour for every hour that a veterinary inspector,

(a) travels to the location of slaughter specified in the provisional authorization;

(b) attends at that location to perform an ante mortem inspection of the animals, supervise slaughter and perform other duties related to the provisional authorization; and

(c) travels from that location to the operator’s plant for the purpose of conducting a post mortem inspection of the carcasses of the animals.

(4) The fee payable by the operator of a slaughter plant specified in a provisional authorization issued under the meat regulation to slaughter one or more food animals outside of a slaughter plant is,

(a) until December 31, 2008, $40 for every hour that a veterinary inspector attends at the operator’s plant to conduct a post mortem inspection of the carcasses of the animals; and

(b) on and after January 1, 2009, $80 for every hour that a veterinary inspector attends at the operator’s plant to conduct a post mortem inspection of the carcasses of the animals.
