Amending O. Reg. 406/00

(Rules of Vintners Quality Alliance Ontario under Clauses 5 (1) (a), (b) and (c) of the Act Relating to Terms, Descriptions and Designations for VQA Wine)

1. The title to Ontario Regulation 406/00 is revoked and the following substituted:

 

Rules of Vintners Quality Alliance Ontario Relating to Terms for VQA Wine

2. Subsection 3 (5) of the Regulation is revoked.

3. Section 5 of the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

4. Despite paragraph 2, a metal crown cap may be used as a closure for bottles of sparkling wine if it preserves the quality of the wine.

4. Table 2 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “The wine shall be produced as a varietal wine in accordance with the requirements for varietal wines in this Table” in Column 2 opposite the subheading “2. Icewine” under the heading “Wine Categories” in Column 1 and substituting “If the wine contains the grape variety Vidal Blanc, the wine shall be produced as a varietal wine in accordance with the requirements for varietal wines in this Table”.

5. (1) Appendix A to the Regulation is amended by striking out opposite “2. Viticultural Area, Estate Bottled, Vineyard Designation” in the column entitled “Geographical Designation or Wine Category”,
