Amending Reg. 628 of R.R.O. 1990

(Vehicle Permits)

1. Regulation 628 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 is amended by adding the following section:

3.1 If there is a change to the name or address of the owner of a vehicle for which a permit is currently validated so that the owner’s name or address does not correspond to the name or address on the permit, the owner of the vehicle shall apply to the Ministry for a new permit for the vehicle within six days after the change occurs.

2. (1) Paragraph 1 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit for a motor vehicle or trailer

(2) Paragraph 2 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit and number plates for a motor vehicle

(3) Paragraph 2 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (2), is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit and number plates for a motor vehicle

(4) Paragraph 2 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (3), is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit and number plates for a motor vehicle

(5) Paragraph 2 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (4), is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit and number plates for a motor vehicle

(6) Paragraph 3 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit and number plate for a trailer

(7) Paragraph 3 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (6), is revoked and the following substituted:

For a permit and number plate for a trailer

(8) Paragraph 3 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (7), is revoked and the following substituted:

(9) Paragraph 15 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

15.	For a special permit for,
	i. a trailer	17
	ii. a motor vehicle that is not a commercial motor vehicle	17
	iii. an unladen commercial motor vehicle for which temporary validation is not issued	17
	iv. a roadworthy prototype vehicle	17
	v. a laden commercial motor vehicle not drawing a trailer	86
	vi. a commercial motor vehicle drawing a trailer, either or both of which are laden	152
	vii. a commercial motor vehicle on whose chassis there is a machine or apparatus that is not designed or used primarily for the transportation of persons or property	152

(10) Paragraph 15 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (9), is revoked and the following substituted:

15.	For a special permit for,
	i. a trailer	20
	ii. a motor vehicle that is not a commercial motor vehicle	20
	iii. an unladen commercial motor vehicle for which temporary validation is not issued	20
	iv. a roadworthy prototype vehicle	20
	v. a laden commercial motor vehicle not drawing a trailer	99

(11) Paragraph 15 of subsection 17 (1) of the Regulation, as remade by subsection (10), is revoked and the following substituted:

15.	For a special permit for,
	i. a trailer	23
	ii. a motor vehicle that is not a commercial motor vehicle	23
	iii. an unladen commercial motor vehicle for which temporary validation is not issued	23
	iv. a roadworthy prototype vehicle	23
	v. a laden commercial motor vehicle not drawing a trailer	114

3. The Regulation is amended by adding the following section:

21.1 (1) The fee set out in paragraph 1 of subsection 17 (1) does not apply with respect to a permit for a vehicle applied for under section 3.1 as a result of a change of address of the owner of the vehicle.

(2) The fee set out in paragraph 1 of subsection 17 (1) does not apply with respect to a permit for a vehicle applied for under section 3.1 as a result of a change of name of the owner of the vehicle,

(a) if the permit is held by the owner as an individual; or

(b) if the permit would be exempt under subsection 21 (1).

4. Schedules 1, 2, 3 and 4 to the Regulation are revoked and the following substituted:

Commencement

5. (1) Subject to subsections (2) to (7), this Regulation comes into force on the later of July 1, 2012 and the day it is filed.

(2) Subsection 2 (2) comes into force on November 1, 2012.

(3) Subsections 2 (6) and (9) come into force on January 1, 2013.

(4) Subsection 2 (3) comes into force on November 1, 2013.

(5) Subsections 2 (7) and (10) come into force on January 1, 2014.

(6) Subsection 2 (4) comes into force on November 1, 2014.

(7) Subsections 2 (1), (5), (8) and (11) come into force on January 1, 2015.
