Amending Reg. 611 of R.R.O. 1990
(SAFETY INSPECTIONS)
1. (1) The definition of “commercial vehicle” in subsection 1 (1) of Regulation 611 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 is revoked.
(2) Subsection 1 (1) of the Regulation is amended by adding the following definition:
“Ontario Regulation 174/22” means Ontario Regulation 174/22 (Classes of Vehicles Requiring Annual and Semi-Annual Inspections) made under the Act; (“Règlement de l’Ontario 174/22”)
2. Section 4 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “section 8” and substituting “section 2 of Ontario Regulation 174/22”.
3. Section 4.0.1 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “section 8” and substituting “section 2 of Ontario Regulation 174/22”.
4. Section 4.1 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “section 10” and substituting “section 3 of Ontario Regulation 174/22”.
5. Section 4.1.1 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “section 10” and substituting “section 3 of Ontario Regulation 174/22”.
6. Section 4.4 of the Regulation is amended by,
(a) striking out “section 8” and substituting “section 2 of Ontario Regulation 174/22”; and
(b) striking out “section 10” and substituting “section 3 of that Regulation”.
7. (1) Subsections 8 (1) and (2) of the Regulation are revoked and the following substituted:
(1) This section applies to commercial motor vehicles, including tow trucks, trailers and trailer converter dollies that are required by section 2 of Ontario Regulation 174/22 to bear an annual inspection sticker.
(2) Subsection 8 (3) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “Commercial vehicles” at the beginning and substituting “Vehicles”.
(3) Subsection 8 (4) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “commercial vehicle” and substituting “vehicle”.
(4) Subsection 8 (5) of the Regulation is revoked.
(5) Subsection 8 (6) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “commercial vehicle” and substituting “vehicle”.
(6) Subsections 8 (7) to (11) of the Regulation are revoked.
8. (1) Subsections 10 (1) to (4.1) of the Regulation are revoked.
(2) Subsection 10 (5) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:
(5) A vehicle described in section 3 of Ontario Regulation 174/22 shall be inspected in accordance with the inspection requirements set out in NSC Standard 11B as modified by sections 1 and 2 of Schedule 3 to this Regulation.
(3) Subsections 10 (7) and (11) of the Regulation are revoked.
9. Sections 14 to 16 of the Regulation are revoked.
10. The Regulation is revoked.
Commencement
11. (1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, this Regulation comes into force on the day it is filed.
(2) Sections 1 to 9 come into force on January 1, 2023.
(3) Section 10 comes into force on January 1, 2024.
