Amending O. Reg. 285/01

(WHEN WORK DEEMED TO BE PERFORMED, EXEMPTIONS AND SPECIAL RULES)

1. Ontario Regulation 285/01 is amended by adding the following section:

Rules re Employment Information

Information re employment

1.2 (1) An employer shall provide an employee with the information listed in subsection (2), in writing, before the employee’s first day of work or, if it is not practicable for the employer to provide the information before that day, the employer shall provide it as soon after that day as is reasonably possible.

(2) The information referred to in subsection (1) is the following:

1. The legal name of the employer, as well as any operating or business name of the employer if different from the legal name.

2. Contact information for the employer, including address, telephone number and one or more contact names.

3. A general description of where it is anticipated that the employee will initially perform work.

4. The employee’s starting hourly or other wage rate or commission, as applicable.

5. The pay period and pay day established by the employer in accordance with subsection 11 (1) of the Act.

6. A general description of the employee’s initial anticipated hours of work.

(3) Subsection (1) does not apply with respect to an employee who is an assignment employee.

(4) Subsection (1) does not apply to an employer that employs fewer than 25 employees on the employee’s first day of work.

Commencement

2. This Regulation comes into force on the later of July 1, 2025 and the day this Regulation is filed.
