Ward descriptions

Wards, as of January 1, 2026

1. For the period commencing on January 1, 2026 and ending on the day before the day the new council of the City of Barrie is organized following the 2026 municipal election, Wards 1, 3, 4 and 5 of the City of Barrie are altered as described in Schedule 1 to this Regulation.

Wards, after 2026 municipal election

2. (1) On the day the new council of the City of Barrie is organized following the 2026 municipal election, Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the City of Barrie are altered as described in Schedule 2 to this Regulation.

(2) For greater certainty, the City of Barrie may divide and redivide the municipality into wards, or dissolve existing wards, in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001 and, in that case, the ward boundaries of any such wards shall be altered or dissolved accordingly.

(3) Despite section 1, the 2026 municipal election shall be conducted as if the ward boundaries have already been altered in accordance with subsection (1) of this section.

Commencement

3. This Regulation comes into force on January 1, 2026 or, if this Regulation is filed after that day, this Regulation is deemed to have come into force on that day.

Schedule 1
Wards as of January 1, 2026

1. Ward 1 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the point of intersection of the centre line of Duckworth Street and the shoreline of Kempenfelt Bay; then proceeding northerly along the centre line of Duckworth Street to a point where the centre line of Duckworth Street intersects with the centre line of Highway 400; thence easterly along the centre line of Highway 400, continuing North along Highway 400 to the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary (Partridge Road); continuing in an easterly direction along the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary to the City of Barrie and Township of Oro-Medonte municipal boundary, south, east, and south again along the municipal boundary to the centre line of Penetanguishene Road; thence southerly along the centre line of Penetanguishene Road to the shore of Kempenfelt Bay; and thence westerly along the shoreline to the point of commencement.

2. Ward 3 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the point of intersection of the centre line of Bayfield Street and the centre line of Highway 400; then proceeding easterly along the centre line of Highway 400 and continuing north along Highway 400 to the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary (Partridge Road); thence south westerly along the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary including all lands south westerly, to the centre line of Bayfield Street; and thence southerly along the centre line of Bayfield Street to the point of commencement.

3. Ward 4 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the point of intersection of the centre line of Anne Street North and the centre line of Highway 400; then proceeding north easterly along the centre line of Highway 400 to the centre line of Bayfield Street, thence northerly along the centre line of Bayfield Street to the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary; thence westerly and thence southerly to the centre line of the Road Allowance between Lots 20 and 21 of Concessions 6 and 7, formerly Vespra; thence easterly along the centre line of the Road Allowance between Lots 20 and 21 of Concessions 6 and 7, formerly Vespra, to a point of intersection with the southerly projection of the east lot line of Registered Plan 51M-246 Block b; thence northerly along the easterly lot line of Registered Plan 51M-246 Block b, thence northerly and easterly; thence northerly again along the easterly lot lines of Registered Plan 51M-409 Blocks 117 and 118 to where the northerly projection of the easterly lot line of Block 117 on Registered Plan 51M-409 intersects with the centre line of Cundles Road West; thence easterly along the centre line of Cundles Road West to the centre line of Anne Street North; and thence southerly along the centre line of Anne Street North to the point of commencement.

4. Ward 5 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the point of intersection of the centre line of Anne Street North and the centre line of Highway 400; then proceeding northerly along the centre line of Anne Street North to the centre line of Cundles Road West; thence westerly along the centre line of Cundles Road West to the intersection of the centre line of Cundles Road West and the north easterly projection of the north easterly lot line of Registered Plan 51M-409 Block 117; thence southerly, then westerly and southerly again along the easterly lot lines of Registered Plan 51M-409 Blocks 117 and 118 to the south easterly corner of Registered Plan 51M-409 Block 118; thence southerly, along the easterly lot line of Registered Plan 51M-246 Block b to the point of intersection of the centre line of the Road Allowance between Lots 20 and 21 of Concessions 6 and 7, formerly Vespra, and the southern projection of Registered Plan 51M-246 Block b; thence westerly along centre line of the road allowance between Lots 20 and 21 of Concessions 6 and 7, formerly Vespra, to the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary; thence south westerly along the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary to the centre line of Tiffin Street; and thence easterly along the centre line of Tiffin Street to the centre line of Highway 400; thence north easterly along the centre line of Highway 400 to the point of commencement.

Wards after 2026 Municipal election

1. Ward 1 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the intersection of St. Vincent Street and Cundles Road East intersect, then in a north easterly direction along Cundles Road East to a line extended to southwestern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000122700. Continuing in an easterly direction along the southern lot line of Parcel ARN: 434101000122700 to the shoreline of Little Lake, then in an easterly direction along the southern shore of Little Lake to the southwestern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000106301. Following along the southern lot line of Parcel ARN: 434101000106301 to the northwestern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000106506 and continuing along the western and southern boundary to the centre line of Penetanguishene Road, then in a northernly direction along Penetanguishene Road to the municipal boundary shared with Oro-Medonte. Continuing along the City of Barrie and Township of Oro-Medonte municipal boundary in an easterly, then southerly direction back to Penetanguishene Road and continuing south along Penetanguishene Road to Kempenfelt Bay, then in a westerly direction along the shoreline of Kempenfelt Bay to the southwest corner of Parcel ARN: 434201202580000. 2. Ward 2 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at Tiffin Street in between the north and southbound lanes of the 400 Highway, then in a north easterly direction along the centre line of Highway 400 to St. Vincent Street, following the centre line of St. Vincent Street in a south easterly way to Duckworth Street, then in a southern direction along the centre line of Duckworth Street to Kempenfelt Bay, following the western parcel boundary of ARN: 434201202580000, then in a south westerly direction along the shore of Kempenfelt Bay to so the southeastern corner of Parcel ARN: 434204000107000. Following the southern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204000107000 to the centre line of Tiffin Street, then in a westerly direction along the centre line of Tiffin Street the point of beginning.

3. Ward 3 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Beginning at Anne Street North and the municipal boundary shared with the Township of Springwater (northwestern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000407303), then in a north easterly direction along the municipal boundary, continuing north around Little Lake, to the intersection of Penetanguishene Road and Partridge Road and where the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater and Township of Oro-Medonte meet. Continuing south along the City of Barrie municipal boundary following Penetanguishene Road to the southeastern corner of Parcel ARN: 434201102301110. Continuing west along the southern edge of Parcel ARN: 434101000106506, then north the lot line of the western edge of Parcel ARN: 434101000106506, west along the southern edge of Parcel ARN: 434101000106301 to where Parcel ARN: 434101000106301 meets the shoreline of Little Lake. Continuing north along the shoreline of Little Lake to where the southeastern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000122700 meets the shoreline. Continuing west along the southern lot line of Parcel ARN: 434101000122700 to the southwestern corner, then extending south to the centre line of J.C. Massie Way. Continuing south along J.C. 4. Ward 4 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the north-east corner of Allandale Station Park and Kempenfelt Bay, moving easterly along the shoreline of Kempenfelt Bay to the municipal boundary shared with the Town of Innisfil, moving southerly along the municipal boundary shared with the Town of Innisfil to Big Bay Point Road, then following the centre line of Big Bay Point Road moving westerly to where Big Bay Point Road intersects with Huronia Road, then north following Huronia Road to the railway, following the railway to Little Avenue. Following the centre line east along Little Avenue to Huronia Road, then again in a northerly direction following Huronia Road to Yonge Street. Continuing east along the centre line of Yonge Street to Minet’s Point Road then in a northerly direction along the centre point of Minet’s Point Road to the CN railway tracks then westerly along the CN railway to the southwest corner of Parcel ARN: 434205000113400, then north following the western boundary of Parcel ARN: 434205000113400 to Lakeshore Drive then easterly along Lakeshore Drive to the southeast corner of Allandale Station Park and north along the boundary of Allandale Station Park to the point of beginning.

5. Ward 5 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the northwest corner of the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary (northwestern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000410200), moving in a north easterly, northerly and north easterly direction along the City of Barrie and Township of Springwater municipal boundary to the centre line of Anne Street North, then in a south easterly direction along the centre line of Anne Street North to the centre line of Highway 400, thence southerly along the centre line of Highway 400 until Highway 400 intersects with Tiffin Street, then in a westerly direction along Tiffin Street to Dunlop Street West. Continuing west along Dunlop Street West to the municipal boundary, then in a northerly direction following the municipal boundary shared with the Township of Springwater to the point of commencement (northwestern corner of Parcel ARN: 434101000410200).

6. Ward 6 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the intersection of Dunlop Street West and Townline Road, easterly to the intersection of Highway 90 and Dunlop Street West and Tiffin Street; then easterly along Tiffin Street towards Highway 400, southerly to Harvie Road, if extended to Highway 400; then westerly along the centre line of Harvie Road towards the intersection of Essa Road and Harvie Road; thence southerly on Essa Road to a the intersection of Essa Road and Mapleton Avenue; then westerly along Mapleton Avenue to the northeast corner of Parcel ARN: 434204001773778. Following the eastern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204001773778 south, then west along the northern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204001703950, continuing along the northern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204001703400 to the municipal boundary, thence northly on Townline Road, concluding at the intersection of Dunlop Street West and Highway 90 and Townline Road.

7. Ward 7 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at Townline Road and moving in an easterly direction along the northern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204001703400 and Parcel ARN: 434204001703950 to the southeastern corner of Parcel ARN: 434204001773778. Continuing north along the eastern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204001773778 to Mapleton Avenue, then east along Mapleton Avenue to Essa Road, then southwest along Essa Road to then in an easterly direction following the northern boundary of Parcel ARN: 434204001806100 to the north west corner of Parcel ARN: 434204001807102, then south to the southwest corner of Parcel ARN: 434209001821800 to Salem Road, then west along Salem Road to the natural heritage system. Continuing south through the natural heritage system and green space designated lands to McKay Road West, then east on McKay Road West to the hydrology line through Parcel ARN: 434209001810803, going south following the hydrology line to the municipal boundary shared with the Town of Innisfil and westerly along the shared municipal boundary to Country Road 27 and Townline Road, and north along Country Road 27 and Townline Road to the point of commencement.

8. Ward 8 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the intersection of Huronia Road and Big Bay Point Road; then running easterly across Yonge Street, concluding at the CNR rail line; thence southerly along the CNR rail line concluding at the southern municipal boundary at the intersection of Lockhart Road and the CNR rail line; then westerly along Lockhart Road towards the intersection of Lockhart Road and Huronia Road; then northward from the intersection of Lockhart Road and Huronia Road and then concluding at the intersection of Huronia Road and Big Bay Point Road.

10. Ward 10 consists of the area of the City of Barrie contained within the following limits:

1.  Commencing at the intersection of Big Bay Point Road and the CNR rail line; then proceeding eastward along Big Bay Point Road towards the eastern municipal boundary, concluding at 20th Sideroad; then continuing south along the municipal boundary with 20th Sideroad, then concluding at the intersection of 20th Sideroad and Lockhart Road; then westerly along Lockhart Road meeting with CNR rail line once again and moving northward with the rail line concluding at the intersection of Big Bay Point Road and the CNR rail Line.
