Part III: Pre-competition requirements
1. Weigh-ins
- Requirements for weigh-ins - Official High Performance. (As per Article 9 of the World Taekwondo Rules)
- The general weigh-in of the contestants on the day of competition shall be organized one day prior to the competition. The time for the general weigh-in will be decided by the Organizing Committee / Referee Committee. The duration of the general weigh-in shall be two (2) hours at the maximum.
- The random weigh-in will take place at the venue in the morning of the competition. All contestants who pass the general weigh-in must be present for random weigh-in maximum two (2) hours before the start of the competition. Should a contestant fail to appear for the random weigh-in, he/she will be disqualified. The random weigh-in must be completed maximum thirty (30) minutes before the start of the competition each day.
- The rate of selection for the random weigh-in shall be determined by the number of contestants in the weight category as following the criteria and subjects will be randomly selected by computerized system maximum two (2) hours before the start of the competition.
- More than 32 athletes: 20% of total.
- 17–32 athletes: 6 athletes.
- 9–16 athletes: 4 athletes.
- 4–8 athletes: 2 athletes.
- The random weigh-in shall be conducted with plus 5% tolerance of the contestant’s weight category. Underweight shall not be subjected to random weigh-in.
- During the weigh-in, the male contestant shall wear underpants and the female contestant shall wear underpants and a brassiere. However, weigh-in may be conducted in the nude if the contestant wishes to do so. Cadet and junior contestant must be weighed with underwear(s) and 100 grams will be allowed to compensate.
- General weigh-in shall be made once, however, one more weigh-in is granted within the time limit to any contestant who did not qualify the first time. Random weigh-in shall be made only once per contestant, and there will not be 2nd weigh-in.
- So as not to be disqualified during the weigh-in, scales identical to the official one shall be provided at the contestants’ place of accommodation or at the competition venue for pre-weigh-in.
- Contestants will be weighed wearing their competition attire or mandatory article of clothing covering male/female genitalia.
- Contestants will not be allowed to change out of their weigh-in attire into their normal attire in the weigh-in area. Contestants should be directed to a private area away from the weigh-in area.
