Uncertified driver’s record

driver/vehicle abstractAn uncertified driver’s record (also called an abstract) is a print copy of a driver’s record for any driver with an Ontario driver’s licence. You can order a copy of a 3-year uncertified driver’s record online.

Driver’s records can be used for many purposes, are available as uncertified or certified formats and can cover different time periods. Check with the individual requesting the record to confirm which version you will need before you order.

To order a 3-year uncertified driver’s record you will need:

  • one of the following
    • your Ontario driver’s licence number
    • registrant identification number
    • your name and address
  • the Ontario driver’s licence number of the person whose record you are requesting

Make sure you have the following before you order:

  • Adobe Reader to open and read the driver’s record
  • a printer to print your receipt and the driver’s record

After you complete the order you will receive an online copy of the driver record to print or save. A paper copy will not be mailed to you. If you order a driver record but it is not on file you will still be charged the search fee.

Other driver records

A certified driver record contains the same information as the uncertified record but will also be stamped with the ministry approved embossed seal. To order a certified copy of a driver’s record you will need to visit a ServiceOntario centre.

Restricted records are only available to the driver named on the record, law enforcement or an authorized individual. These records contain the current address of the person named on the record.
