Amending Reg. 298 of R.R.O. 1990

(OPERATION OF SCHOOLS — GENERAL)

1. Subsection 3 (8) of Regulation 298 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 is revoked and the following substituted:

(8) Each pupil in the primary and junior division shall have at least one recess that is not less than 10 minutes in length and that is not scheduled immediately before or after the pupil’s lunch break.

(9) The combined length of lunch break and recess time each pupil in the primary and junior division has shall not be less than 60 minutes.

2. Subsection 6 (1) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “Regulation 454 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 (Fire Code)” and substituting “Ontario Regulation 213/07 (Fire Code) made under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997”.

Commencement

3. This Regulation comes into force on the later of September 1, 2025 and the day this Regulation is filed.
