Overview

Alternative Education Resources Ontario (AERO) is a digital repository that provides alternate formats of educational materials to students attending public schools from kindergarten to postsecondary institutions.

AERO helps students with perceptual disabilities access educational materials in a format that best meets their needs, such as:

  • Braille
  • large print
  • e-text
  • digital audio

Print and perceptual disabilities

Educational materials are provided in different formats to accommodate a student’s perceptual disabilities, which can include:

  • low visual acuity (low vision or visual processing challenges)
  • difficulty holding or handling printed materials, like workbooks or papers
  • dyslexia
  • other conditions or impairments that affect how a student accesses printed information (for example, a brain injury)
