Notice of approval – terms of reference

Proponent: The Township of Stirling-Rawdon

As provided for by section 6(4) of the Environmental Assessment Act, Terms of Reference, as submitted for approval to the Ministry of the Environment on July 28, 2006, to govern the preparation of an environmental assessment for the above-noted undertaking, is hereby approved with the following amendments:

  • Section 3.0 of the Terms of Reference is amended to add the following:
    As a result of the amalgamation, the service area for each of the two local landfills owned and operated by the Township extends to the geographic boundaries of the Township and either landfill is likely to receive waste from any part of the Township as the need arises. As such, the EA document will consider the total population of the Township in the design and operation of the landfill and the waste generation projections will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Section 4.2 of the Terms of Reference will be amended to add the following:
    In the area on and around the Rawdon Landfill site there are significant natural heritage features including:
    • a potentially significant woodland which is also a significant Deer Wintering Habitat
    • some known Species at Risk including Loggerhead Shrike, Northern Dropseed, White Prairie Gentian and Stinkpot; the entire community and to provide for the protection of the natural heritage features in the area
