Use of data provided on Ontario.ca is subject to the terms and conditions outlined here.
Introduction
You are about to access groups of data (“Datasets”) provided by His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario (“Ontario”). Your access and use is conditional upon your agreement to these Terms of Use
These Terms of Use grant you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use the Datasets subject to the conditions below. Please read them carefully.
Ontario may withdraw or change the Datasets or change these Terms of Use at any time, from time to time. Notices may be posted here and any change is effective when posted or when otherwise stated.
Using data published on Ontario.ca
Based on these Terms of Use you are free to (your “use”):
- share, modify and use the Datasets
- copy, publish, adapt, distribute and transmit the Datasets
- combine the Datasets with other datasets or data or
- use the Datasets commercially
If you do any of the above you must ensure that the following conditions are met:
- you do not use the Datasets in a way that suggests any official status or that Ontario endorses you or your use of the Datasets
- you do not mislead others or misrepresent the Datasets or its source
- your use of the Datasets does not cause Ontario to breach the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Ontario) (FIPPA)
- the Datasets are not used to breach any law or for any illegal activity and
- your use of the Datasets causes no harm to others
Exclusions
Despite any rights granted herein, this licence does not apply to the use of:
- personal information (as defined in FIPPA)
- information or Records (as defined in FIPPA) Ontario is not authorized to disclose
- data owned by or licenced from third-parties included in the Datasets that Ontario is not authorized to licence and
- information subject to other intellectual property rights, including patents, trade-marks and official marks, and industrial design rights
If you fail to comply with, or your use of the Datasets is not permitted under, these Terms of Use the rights granted to you under these Terms of Use will end automatically.
You assume sole responsibility for every use you make of the Datasets and for complying with all applicable laws and industry standards.
Attribution
You should, where you use the Datasets, acknowledge the source of each Dataset by including the following attribution statement and, where possible, provide a link to these Terms of Use:

No warranty and liability with Datasets
You get no warranties, none of any kind, in respect to the Datasets or your use of them.
You accept these Datasets on an "as is, with all defects" basis and agree to use them solely at your own risk.
Ontario shall not be liable for any errors or omissions in the Datasets or for any loss, injury or damage of any kind in connection with the Datasets or their use and you shall have no recourse against Ontario. Ontario does not guarantee the continued supply of the Datasets, updates or corrections or that they are or will be accurate, useful, complete, current or free and clear of any possible third party copyright, moral right, other intellectual property right or other claim.
No association
You may not use any trade-mark, official mark, official emblem or logo of Ontario, or any of its other means of identification, promotion or publicity, without Ontario's prior written consent nor in any event to represent or imply an association or affiliation with Ontario.
Governing law and Jurisdiction
These Datasets are published in Ontario, Canada. These Terms of Use are governed by Ontario law and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of Ontario courts in Ontario with respect to any and all matters arising under these Terms of Use or access to, or use of, these Datasets.
