Meet the Premier’s team
A bold and ambitious government that will protect Ontario and keep our communities strong, prosperous and secure.
Our plan to protect Ontario
We’ve got a plan to protect Ontario at a time of economic uncertainty, working for you and side-by-side with workers, businesses, all levels of government and Indigenous partners. Our plan focuses on several key areas:
Protect Ontario from economic uncertainty
As U.S. tariffs continue to cause widespread uncertainty, we’re helping workers, businesses and communities weather the storm by:
- providing $11 billion in relief to workers and businesses, supporting them to adapt and fight
- standing firmly behind sectors threatened by tariffs and maintaining investments in the electric vehicle and battery sector
- standing up for Ontario by engaging with American lawmakers and job creators, and doing everything we can to keep costs down and provide relief to Ontario families
Protect Ontario by unleashing our economy
We are tapping into Ontario’s enormous economic potential and transform our economy into the most competitive place in the G7 to invest, create jobs and do business. We’ll do this by:
- tearing down internal trade barriers within Canada, including automatically recognizing credentials from other provinces and territories to allow skilled workers to get jobs faster and fill gaps in our labour force
- unlocking the Ring of Fire by streamlining approvals, cutting red tape and investing in processing to get critical minerals out of the ground, processed and shipped to factory floors faster
- investing in the development and expansion of nuclear power facilities, including small modular nuclear reactors, giving our province the competitive advantage to export clean energy both at home and abroad
Protect Ontario by building
We’re getting shovels in the ground sooner and keeping thousands of workers on the job through our historic infrastructure plan. This includes:
- investing over $200 billion to build new and upgraded roads and highways in every part of the province, including a new tunnel expressway and transitway under Highway 401
- keeping people moving by taking bike lanes off our busiest streets and onto secondary roads, expanding public transit, resuming the Northlander passenger train, and improving GO train passenger service across the Greater Golden Horseshoe
- creating more new homes by building local infrastructure and working with municipalities to standardize, lower and bring more transparency to development costs and timelines
Protect Ontario workers
We’re protecting our province’s greatest competitive advantage — our highly skilled, world-class workforce. We’re supporting training and skills development by:
- expanding investments in Ontario’s colleges and universities and in training and skills development, including funding for training capacity and programs designed to fill critical gaps in the province’s workforce
- connecting the next generation with the jobs of the future by helping students gain foundational skills in reading, writing and math, providing them with new opportunities to learn critical life skills like personal finance, and increasing access to career coaching
- ensuring investments in public education and skills training are directed to students in the classroom, not increasing administration
Protect Ontario borders and communities
We’re protecting Ontario communities by cracking down on crime and giving municipalities the resources they need to keep people safe. This includes:
- enhancing security at Ontario’s borders to crack down on the flow of illegal guns, drugs and border crossings
- providing municipalities with enhanced legal tools to end encampments and clean up our parks and public spaces
- continuing to invest in and build new and expanded jails
Protect Ontario health care
Threats against our economy are also a threat against our world-class health care system. Our plan to protect health care includes:
- connecting every person in the province to a family doctor and primary care within the next 4 years
- leading the largest expansion of medical education in more than a decade, including new programs to pay for school and supplies for family doctors
- making care easier to access by leveraging the skills and expertise of pharmacists and other health care professionals, while making historic investments to build and upgrade hospitals, long-term care beds and new community and diagnostic surgical centres
