Korea Semiconductor B2B Road Show Program 2025

 

The Government of Ontario is organizing a Korea Semiconductor B2B Road Show Program in collaboration with Canada's Semiconductor Council. Taking place at the Embassy of Canada in Seoul, South Korea from October 20 - 21, 2025.  The B2B meeting and road show program will include a market briefing, tailored B2B meetings with interpretation support, and in-market support by the Ontario working team. The cost is C$1,500 per Ontario company. SEDEX Korea is a major annual event in the semiconductor industry, bringing global leaders, innovators, and professionals together. The 2025 edition featured around 300 companies and attracted approximately 40,000 visitors. SEDEX Korea showcases advancements in artificial intelligence, advanced packaging, and sustainable semiconductor manufacturing. Major players like Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, AMD, and IMEC participate, share insights and explore partnerships.

 

Market Background 

 

South Korea is a global powerhouse in the semiconductor industry, playing a pivotal role in the global market. In 2024, South Korea accounted for 60% of the global memory semiconductor market, with a DRAM market share of 70.5% and a NAND market share of 52.6%. South Korea is proactive in supporting the semiconductor industry with plans to invest $470 billion over the next 23 years to build the world's largest semiconductor cluster. South Korea is also focusing on expanding its presence in the non-memory semiconductor market, aiming to become a global leader by 2030. This includes investments in ultra-fine processing technology and efforts to secure supply chain of essential materials and equipment.

 

South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea, is the 12th largest global economy with a GDP of US$1.59 trillion, a population of 51.7 million, and a GDP per capita of US$30,644. It thrives in sectors like electronics, telecommunications, automotive production, chemicals, shipbuilding, and steelmaking, driven by major conglomerates such as Samsung, Hyundai, LG, SK, Lotte, POSCO, Hanwha, Hanjin, GS, and CJ, which account for 80% of the country's economy. The Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) grants Canadian exporters preferential, tariff-free access to this significant market. South Korea is a key trading partner for Ontario and an increasing source of foreign direct investment. Korea is actively shifting its energy mix from coal and LNG and commits to Net Zero by 2050. South Korea was one of the first East Asian nations to implement a national emissions trading scheme (K-ETS) with climate commitments to COP26 to reduce emissions by 40% from 2018 levels by 2030. Program Details
