Strengthening Cyber Security and Building Trust in the Public Sector Act, 2024

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

 

Strengthening Cyber Security and Building Trust in the Public Sector Act, 2024

 

1. January 29, 2025 is named as the day on which the following provisions of the Strengthening Cyber Security and Building Trust in the Public Sector Act, 2024, c. 24, being the Enhancing Digital Security and Trust Act, 2024, come into force:

 

Schedule 1, s. 1-16.

 

2. January 29, 2025 is named as the day on which the following provisions of the Strengthening Cyber Security and Building Trust in the Public Sector Act, 2024, c. 24, which amend the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, come into force:

 

Schedule 2, s. 2, 3 (1), (3), 9, 10, 12 (2), 13.

 

3. July 1, 2025 is named as the day on which the following provisions of the Strengthening Cyber Security and Building Trust in the Public Sector Act, 2024, c. 24, which amend the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, come into force:

 

Schedule 2, s. 1, 3 (2), 4-8, 11, 12 (1), 14.

Correction

This Order in Council, as previously published on e-Laws, contained the following publication error:

The Order in Council was shown as having been recommended by the Solicitor General. In fact, the Order in Council was recommended by the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement.

This error was corrected on June 10, 2026.
