fees for non-permanent residents — exemptions

Prescribed class

1. Each of the following classes is prescribed as a class for which a board shall not charge a fee in accordance with subsection 49 (7) of the Act:

1.-3. Revoked: O. Reg. 242/25, s. 1 (1).

4. Persons who,

i. were displaced as a result of Hurricane Dorian, and

ii. were admitted to a school of the board in the 2019-2020 school year.

5. Persons who,

i. were granted an emergency authorization to enter into or remain in Canada for humanitarian reasons, and

ii. are in Canada under that authorization.

6. Persons who,

i. were enrolled in a school of the board the previous school year and, under clause 49 (7) (b), (c), (d) or (e) of the Act, were not charged a fee in that year because of the legal status of the person’s parent or of someone else with lawful custody of the person,

ii. are enrolled in a school of the board in the current school year,

iii. are 18 years old or older,

iv. have not earned enough credits to fulfil the requirements of the Ontario secondary school diploma, and

v. do not qualify for any other fee exemption under subsection 49 (7) of the Act.

7. Persons who met the description in paragraph 6 in the previous school year, provided that the person is enrolled in a school of the board in the current school year and has  not earned enough credits to fulfil the requirements of the Ontario secondary school diploma.
