EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN LANDLORDS

Consolidation Period:  From May 25, 2026 to the e-Laws currency date.

Note: THIS REGULATION IS NOT YET IN FORCE. It comes into force on July 1, 2026, the day clause 1 (2) (b) of Schedule 8 (Measures Respecting Premises with Illegal Drug Activity Act, 2025) to the Protect Ontario Through Safer Streets and Stronger Communities Act, 2025 comes into force.

Meaning of landlord, exclusions

1. Despite subsection 1 (2) of the Act, a person is not a landlord for the purposes of the Act in respect of the following premises:

1.  Premises providing homelessness prevention and support services, including emergency shelter providers and providers of health and social services.

2.  A retirement home, as defined in subsection 2 (1) of the Retirement Homes Act, 2010.

3.  A long-term care home, as defined in subsection 2 (1) of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
