Amending O. Reg. 170/22

(VEHICLE INSPECTION CENTRES)

1. Subsection 9 (2) of Ontario Regulation 170/22 is revoked and the following substituted:

(2) The following fees are payable by a vehicle inspection centre to the Ministry:

1. For a safety standards certificate, $5.10.

2. For a structural inspection certificate, $5.10.

3. For an annual inspection sticker, $2.60.

4. For a semi-annual inspection sticker, $1.05.

2. (1) Subsection 10 (1) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “January 1” and substituting “April 1”.

(2) Subsections 10 (1.1) and (1.2) of the Regulation are revoked and the following substituted:

(1.1) Despite subsection 91 (4) of the Act, a motor vehicle inspection station licence that expired on December 31, 2023 remains valid, at no cost, until March 31, 2025, unless it has been or is revoked or surrendered before that date.

(1.2) Despite section 14 of Regulation 601 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 (Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations) made under the Act, a motor vehicle inspection mechanic registration that expired on December 31, 2023 remains valid, at no cost, until March 31, 2025, unless it has been or is revoked or surrendered before that date.

(3) Clause 10 (2) (c) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “January 1” and substituting “April 1”.

3. (1) Subsection 11 (2) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “January 31” and substituting “April 30”.

(2) Subsection 11 (4) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “December 31, 2024” at the end and substituting “March 31, 2025”.

4. (1) Subsection 12 (1) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

Same, retention of records

(1) A person who is the licensee of a motor vehicle inspection station at any time in 2024 shall keep the records required under section 10 of Regulation 601 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 (Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations) made under the Act, as it read immediately before it was revoked, until the earlier of the first anniversary of the date that the person surrenders their licence to the Ministry and December 30, 2025.

(2) Section 12 of the Regulation is revoked.

5. Section 3 of Ontario Regulation 145/23 is revoked.

Commencement

6. (1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, this Regulation comes into force on the day it is filed.

(2) Subsection 4 (1) comes into force on the later of January 1, 2025 and the day this Regulation is filed.

(3) Section 1 comes into force on April 1, 2025.

(4) Subsection 4 (2) comes into force on December 31, 2025.
