Amending O. Reg. 286/01
(BENEFIT PLANS)
1. The definition of “pension plan” in section 1 of Ontario Regulation 286/01 is amended by adding the following clause:
(c.1) a pension plan that provides target benefits, as described in section 39.2 of the Pension Benefits Act,
2. Clause 3 (1) (c) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:
(c) a differentiation in the rates of contribution of an employer to a defined benefit pension plan, a unit-benefit pension plan or a pension plan that provides target benefits, that provides an increase in benefits to an employee because of marital status, if the rates of contribution of the employer differentiate between employees because of marital status.
3. Clause 4 (1) (c) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “a unit-benefit or defined benefit pension plan” and substituting “a defined benefit pension plan, a unit-benefit pension plan or a pension plan that provides target benefits”.
Commencement
4. This Regulation comes into force on the later of the day section 17 of Schedule 33 to the Stronger, Fairer Ontario Act (Budget Measures), 2017 comes into force and the day this Regulation is filed.
