Amending O. Reg. 45/22

(GENERAL)

1. Ontario Regulation 45/22 is amended by adding the following section:

Restriction re cervical cancer screening

19.2 The owner and the operator of a laboratory shall ensure that no person employed in the laboratory performs any of the following tests under the provincial cervical screening program unless the owner or the operator has entered into an agreement with Ontario Health respecting conditions related to the participation of the laboratory in the program:

1.  Cervicovaginal cellular evaluation (Pap smear).

2.  Human papillomavirus (HPV).

2. Subsection 24 (1) of the Regulation is amended by adding the following clause:

(b.1)  the results of a test funded under the provincial cervical screening program are reported to Ontario Health for the purposes of the Ontario Cancer Screening Registry;

3. (1) Schedule 1 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph after the heading “Tests Performed on Tissue/Discharge/Sputum”:

184.1  Cervicovaginal cellular evaluation (Pap smear).

(2) Paragraph 190 of Schedule 1 to the Regulation is revoked.

(3) Schedule 1 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

191.1  Smear only, Gram or Papanicolaou stain.

4. (1) Paragraph 9 of Schedule 2 to the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

9.  Cervicovaginal cellular evaluation (Pap smear).

(2) Schedule 2 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

20.1  Human papillomavirus (HPV).

5. (1) Schedule 3 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph after the heading “Tests Performed on Tissue/Discharge/Sputum”:

51.1  Cervicovaginal cellular evaluation (Pap smear).

(2) Paragraph 57 of Schedule 3 to the Regulation is revoked.

(3) Schedule 3 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following paragraph:

58.1  Smear only, Gram or Papanicolaou stain.

Commencement

6. This Regulation comes into force on the later of March 3, 2025 and the day this Regulation is filed.
