EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Explanatory Note was written as a reader’s aid to Bill 182 and does not form part of the law. Bill 182 has been enacted as Chapter 21 of the Statutes of Ontario, 2020.

The Bill amends the Franco-Ontarian Emblem Act, 2001 to recognize the Franco-Ontarian flag as an emblem of Ontario.

An Act to amend the Franco-Ontarian Emblem Act, 2001

Assented to September 24, 2020

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1 Section 2 of the Franco-Ontarian Emblem Act, 2001 is repealed and the following substituted:

Franco-Ontarian emblem

2 The flag described in the Schedule to this Act is recognized as,

(a) the emblem of the Ontario French-speaking community; and

(b) an emblem of Ontario.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3 The short title of this Act is the Franco-Ontarian Emblem Amendment Act, 2020.
