Eligibility

The Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program covers most of the cost of more than 5,900 medications listed on the ODB Formulary and almost 1,500 additional drug products that meet specific criteria through the Exceptional Access Program (EAP).

You may be covered by the ODB program if you have OHIP coverage and are any of the following:

  • 24 years of age or younger and not covered by a private plan (OHIP+)
  • 65 years of age or older
  • living in a long-term care home or a Community Home for Opportunity
  • enrolled in the Trillium Drug Program

You are also covered by the ODB program if you are enrolled in Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program, or if you are receiving professional home and community care services.

What you pay depends on how you qualify for the ODB program.

Other medications

While the ODB program is one of the most generous drug funding programs in Canada, not all medications that are available in Canada are covered through this program.

If a medication that you need is not found in the search tool, talk to your pharmacist or prescriber to confirm whether it can be funded under another Ontario public drug program.

Disclaimer

This website is a search tool only and is not the official Ontario Drug Benefit Formulary/Comparative Drug Index (Formulary).

Ontario covers the cost of certain drug products not listed on the Formulary for people who qualify under the EAP.

If there is a discrepancy between the information provided through this search tool and the information in the Formulary or an Ontario government policy, the Formulary/policy prevails.
