Choose a licence plate graphic
Choose a graphic for your licence plate, such as a loon, trillium or the logo of your favourite Ontario professional sports team, community organization or university.
Overview
You can get a graphic licence plate for your vehicle or for someone else, choosing from more than 60 available graphics.
Graphic licence plates come with a pre‑assigned letter and number combination. You cannot choose the combination unless you order a personalized licence plate.
Once you receive your graphic plate, you can register it to a vehicle at a ServiceOntario centre.
Order a graphic licence plate
You can order a graphic licence plate:
- online
- at a ServiceOntario centre
Online
To order a graphic licence plate online, you will need:
- to pay any outstanding fines, fees, penalties or tolls
- your driver’s licence number or registrant identification number (RIN)
- your choice of licence plate graphic
- to pay using Visa or Mastercard (debit or credit)
If you are ordering a graphic licence plate as a gift or for decoration, and do not have a driver’s licence number or RIN, visit a ServiceOntario centre.

In-person at a ServiceOntario centre
To order a graphic licence plate at a ServiceOntario centre you will need:
- to pay any outstanding fines, fees, penalties or tolls
- valid ID (for example, driver’s licence or passport)
- vehicle permit (green ownership papers)
- to pay using Visa, Mastercard (debit or credit) or cash
If you are replacing plates, check with the ServiceOntario centre to confirm they have the graphic plate you want: if not in stock, ServiceOntario can arrange delivery.

After you receive your plates
Graphic licence plates are delivered in 4 to 6 weeks depending on availability.
If you ordered online, you will get an email with tracking information once the plates have been shipped.
Use the tracking number to find out when your plates will be delivered.
Register a graphic licence plate to your vehicle
After the plates have been delivered, you must register them at a ServiceOntario centre before attaching them to a vehicle.
You will need to bring:
- the letter that came with your plates
- valid ID (for example, driver’s licence or passport)
- vehicle permit (green ownership papers)
Gift a graphic licence plate
Graphic licence plates ordered as gifts are mailed to the address provided.
Transfer plates
When you order a graphic licence plate as a gift for someone else’s vehicle, you need to transfer the plate to the person receiving it.
You must fill out the transfer form included with the plates to complete the transfer.
A graphic licence plate can be transferred only once before it is registered to a vehicle.
Gift certificates
You can buy a gift certificate for a graphic licence plate at a ServiceOntario centre. Gift certificates are not available for sample plates or replacement licence plates.

Order a Veteran graphic licence plate
Veteran graphic licence plates are only available at ServiceOntario centres.
To order a Veteran graphic licence plate, you will need to:
- Pay any outstanding fines, fees, penalties or tolls.
- Fill out an Application for Veteran Plate Eligibility Certification.
- Have the completed form signed and stamped by the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command.
- Bring the original copy of the form, your valid ID (for example, driver’s licence or passport) and vehicle permit (green ownership papers) to any ServiceOntario centre.
There is no cost from ServiceOntario to order a Veteran graphic licence plate.
Sample plates
Sample plates are available as decorative items and cannot be personalized. You will only receive one plate as a sample.
To order a sample plate, please visit a ServiceOntario centre.
You cannot legally register sample plates to a vehicle.
Add your organization’s logo
Organizations can apply to have their logo added to the list of graphic licence plates offered by ServiceOntario.
Organizations must own or have legal authorization to use the logo they wish to feature.

Personalized licence plates with a graphic
You can order a personalized licence plate with your choice of characters that also includes a graphic.

- in person: Visa or Mastercard (debit or credit), or cash
- online: Visa or Mastercard (debit or credit)
Shipping fees and HST are included in the total cost.

Online orders will be delivered in 4 to 6 weeks.
If you are ordering a plate at a ServiceOntario centre and it is not in stock, you can have it delivered to you.
