Help recruit Ontario’s first Patient Ombudsman
Thank you for your interest in helping to recruit Ontario’s first Patient Ombudsman.
This online consultation is now closed. Details on the survey results will be made available in the coming weeks.
About the consultation
The work of the Patient Ombudsman will complement the work of other existing organizations in the health system that handle complaints, including the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Health Services Appeal and Review Board.
We are looking for input on what qualities Ontarians feel will be most important in their Patient Ombudsman, particularly his or her:
- personality traits
- skills
- experience
Your responses will help us recruit the new Patient Ombudsman.
What you need to know
Some parts of the Patient Ombudsman role have already been set out in the law and will not be the focus of this consultation process. For example:
- what the Ombudsman can investigate
- who the Ombudsman can investigate
- when the Ombudsman may exercise his or her powers
- who will appoint and employ the Ombudsman
- how long the Ombudsman will remain in office
