Particulars of a Restraining Order

s. 49 (2) Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 (“Act”)

These particulars are posted following the issuance of a Restraining Order against an unregistered career college by the Superintendent of Career Colleges pursuant to s. 46 (1) of the Act.

Contraventions

The Superintendent of Career Colleges ordered Toronto Acting School to stop:

  • Offering or providing unapproved vocational programs contrary to subsection 8 (1) (Prohibition against providing vocational programs) of the Act.
    • The Business was offering an unapproved vocational program called the Professional Certificate Program in Film/TV and Theatre.
  • Advertising unapproved vocational programs contrary to subsection 11 (2) (Restrictions on advertising and soliciting) of the Act.
    • The Business was advertising the provision of an unapproved vocational program on its website called the Professional Certificate Program in Film/TV and Theatre.

Required actions

By April 7, 2026, Toronto Acting School was required by the Superintendent of Career Colleges to provide written confirmation signed by a person with authority to bind the corporation, together with all available supporting evidence, confirming that they:

  1. Took all steps necessary to come into compliance with the Act and its regulations including the following:
    1. stopped offering unapproved vocational programs
    2. stopped providing unapproved vocational programs
    3. stopped advertising unapproved vocational programs
  1. Provided to the Superintendent of Career Colleges a written report of compliance, including a description of steps taken by Toronto Acting School and all documentation necessary to demonstrate that Toronto Acting School achieved compliance with the Act and its regulations.
