What you need before you start

1. Your Ontario Photo Card number

   

   If you cannot provide a valid Ontario Photo Card number, you need to renew your card in person.

2. Your DD Number (9 character sequence)

   DD —Document Number.

   

3. Your postal code
4. Your email address
5. Your phone number (optional)
6. Your credit card or debit card

Cost

Ontario Photo Card renewal is $35.00 (HST included) for a 5-year OPC.
The fee may vary if the renewal period is not for a full 5 years. For example, the expiry date on your OPC is changing to align with the date of birth on the OPC.

Payable by Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard and Debit Mastercard.

You will be sent to a secure third party website to handle your payment. Once your payment is complete you will be redirected to our site to obtain your receipt.

Renewal eligibility

• You can renew your Ontario Photo Card online if you are eligible.
• You can renew your Ontario Photo Card online if:
  • You don’t have a valid driver’s licence,
  • You are a resident of Ontario,
  • You are 16 years of age and older,
  • You have not updated your address in the last 90 days.

Has your address changed?

By law, you need to notify the Ministry of Transportation within 6 days of changing your address.

If you have recently moved, you will need to change your address before you order a new Ontario Photo Card.

Delivery

Your new Ontario Photo Card will arrive in the mail within 4 to 6 weeks.

If you do not receive your card within 6 weeks of your application’s effective date, visit or contact ServiceOntario at the numbers listed below to avoid a replacement fee.

Validity information

Renewal eligibility: You can renew your Ontario Photo Card up to 180 days before its expiry date.
You can renew your Ontario Photo Card up to three years after the card expiry date.

Card validity: Your new Ontario Photo Card is valid for 5 years.

Photo validity: The photo used on the Ontario Photo Card is valid for 10 years.

When the photo validity expires, the Ontario Photo Card must then be renewed in person at a ServiceOntario centre.
