Highlights and features
Mobile app
We’ll be introducing a free FishHuntON mobile app to make buying and accessing your fishing and hunting products faster and more convenient. The mobile app will also offer enhanced features that are available without internet or cell connectivity (for example, digital tags).
The app will include:
- the option to buy, carry and display your Outdoors Card and licences digitally
- big game draw entries
- a new digital tag option
- hunter reporting
- quick access to the fishing and hunting regulations and Fish ON-Line
Digital tags
Hunters will have the option to carry either a printed or digital tag.
How digital tags will work in the FishHuntON app
Generating a digital tag
After hunters have purchased a tag or it becomes available, they can use the FishHuntON app to generate a digital tag. This step requires internet or cell service.
Accessing and notching the digital tag
Hunters can access and notch their digital tag offline in the field.
- Once notched, the date will automatically be recorded on the digital tag.
- Your location data will not be collected or stored when you use the app.
Requirements
- Hunters choosing the digital tag option are responsible for carrying their mobile device in a charged state.
- Hunters must keep the digital tag with them during their hunt and after harvest of the animal.
- If hunters are not with the animal and immediately available to produce the tag for inspection, they must create and attach a label as described in the tagging instructions. The label:
- should be made of durable material (such as duct tape with permanent marker) and must include the confirmation details listed on the notched digital tag
- must be securely attached to the location outlined in the tagging instructions for the species
- must remain attached until the animal is being prepared for long term storage.
- Hunters must keep any relevant species-specific identifying features with the animal outlined in the tagging instructions and keep the notched digital tag on their device even after a label has been attached.
Online submission of Ontario hunter accreditation
We’re making it easier to submit your Ontario hunter accreditation by offering online submission of Ontario hunter education certificates and examiner reports through the new system.
How to prepare for launch
Continue to use the current licensing system to manage your account and buy or renew fishing and hunting products.
Ensure your contact information is up to date
If you’ve purchased a fishing or hunting licence in the past, your account information will be transferred over and available in FishHuntON once the new system is launched.
Update your email and phone number now to make the transition to the new system faster. You may make updates:
- online using the Fish and Wildlife Licensing Service
- by phone:
1-800-387-7011 - at a licence issuer

Find your Outdoors Card number
Having your Outdoors Card number available will simplify your FishHuntON account set-up once the new system is launched. You can find it on your Outdoors Card, licence summary, tag or sales receipt.

Sign-in and service updates
Ontario.ca Login
We’re changing our sign-in process. When you sign in to FishHuntON, your username and password from the current fishing and hunting licensing system will no longer work.
FishHuntON will instead use Ontario.ca Login — a secure sign-in service that provides quick and easy access to Government of Ontario services using a single username and password.
You may already have an Ontario.ca Login if you renewed your driver’s licence or health card online. Learn more.
Automated phone line
Starting with the FishHuntON launch on December 10, 2026, clients will no longer be able to buy products or enter draws through the automated phone line. These transactions will need to be completed:
- online through the FishHuntON website or mobile app
- in-person at a licence issuer or participating ServiceOntario location
This change aligns with modern payment and security requirements while continuing to offer important services through the phone system.
The automated phone line will continue to provide a range of self-service options, including:
- submitting hunter reports
- accessing draw results and moose points
- checking moose tag quotas
