Formal customary care
Read about principles, processes and best practices for formal customary care. This guide was released in 2013 and does not reflect changes in the child and family services sector since that time.
Overview
This guide was released in 2013 to familiarize readers with the concept behind and the practice of “formal” customary care, as a form of customary care under the Child and Family Services Act (CFSA). Its use was not required by legislation, regulation or directive.
The guide has not been updated to reflect changes in Ontario’s child and family service sector, including the fact that in 2018 the Child, Youth and Family Services Act came into force and replaced the CFSA.
Therefore, this guide uses outdated terminology and information. It remains publicly available for historical and informational purposes.
