Strom's Farm & Bakery, located in Guelph, is a family-friendly destination known for its fresh Ontario pumpkins and irresistible homemade treats. From mouth-watering pies to delicious cookies, every bite is made with love and local goodness.
Their story goes back to 1978, when Jay and Marg Strom started with one acre of sweet corn, and then added pumpkins in 1995.
In 2002, Channing, their oldest son, and his wife, Amy, added a corn maze and in 2006 they bought the farm and added a bakery. Their on-site bakery offers a variety of treats, including fresh pies, tarts, and cookies.
Now, the tradition continues for this third-generation farm with Amy and Channing’s youngest son and his wife.
A typical day on the farm
As like any business owner, the Stroms wear many hats. Depending on the time of year, they could be out in the tractor discing a field, planting pumpkins, chalking their corn maze and hoeing it out, or trying new recipes for the bakery. When guests come to the farm, they’re not only given a quality product but also ensured that everything leading up to and including their dinner is memorable.
For the Stroms, their staff is their extended family, and they enjoy welcoming them back every season!
Recommendations for customers when picking pumpkins…
They grow many varieties, but their favourite is Bisbee Gold pumpkins, which they consider are one of the best one for baking pies! According to Amy Strom, pie pumpkins are more flavourful, less stringy and not as much water as your regular pumpkins.
